3 Types Of Evaporative Coolers

The popularity and use of air evaporative coolers have been increasing steadily. This is because there are more details available for both individuals and companies about the various benefits of the machines.

Many are now turning to air coolers for their ultimate cooling solution in their homes, offices, and business places such as factories and warehouses.

Evaporative air coolers serve the same purpose and almost use the same mechanism. However, they are different types. Some can be transported easily to other parts of the house and others cannot be moved. Others are more permanent and are not easily portable.

The right type of cooling is determined by the specific environment. The cooling need will also depend on the conditions of the area being cool. This means that the temperature of an office, home, hallway, warehouse, or factory will dictate the best type of air conditioner.

There are three types of evaporative coolers. They are:

  • Direct evaporative air coolers
  • Indirect evaporative air cooler
  • Mounted air coolers 

The room's conditions will influence the type of air-cooler you select, as mentioned previously. The location of the cooling area and the size of that space are crucial. We will be discussing the various air coolers, their functions, and which type is best for you.

 

1. Direct Evaporative Air Coolers

The Swamp Coolers are also known as direct evaporative cooling units. These are simple devices that provide cooling for many homes in various parts of the world. They are also extremely energy-efficient. A swamp cooler can be operated very easily.

They are also very inexpensive. These machines can be installed straight after they have been bought. This air cooler requires very little maintenance.

These machines can last for years with little care and maintenance. They are very portable.

Direct evaporative coolers work the same way as natural cooling with water and air. The cooling of the room is done by using water contained in an air cooler's cooling pad.

Warm air from the environment is sucked into a unit, where heat is used to cause the evaporation from some water molecules on the pads. This decreases the temperature and humidifies the environment. The fan within the unit will move the cooled air outside of the unit, allowing for immediate circulation throughout the room.

 

2. Indirect Evaporative Air Coolers

The air coolers with indirect evaporative cooling are very different from swamp coolers. These coolers are usually not portable. Contrary to popular belief, indirect evaporative air coolers do not increase humidity.

Indirect coolers have the advantage of being very efficient at reducing temperature. They can be very effective in large spaces. They offer greater cooling power than standard swamp coolers and are commonly used to cool commercial areas such as factories and restaurants.

While the operation of indirect air coolers is similar to those of direct coolers there are some differences. Indirect evaporative coolers take advantage of the fact that evaporative chilling is dependent to a large degree on the temperature of outside air.

It uses an additional source of air that is heated before it reaches media pads. The units can generate more cool air by using this method.

 

3. Mounted Coolers

Mounted air coolers are also called draft coolers. They are smaller than direct evaporative coolers in size.

The operation of these machines is very similar to that of direct air coolers. These machines can be mounted in one of three ways: roof-mounting (ground-mounting), window-mounting (or window-mounting).
